Today was a lovely day :)
I drove to Seal Beach after taking Marvin to dialysis, and stopped at Crema. It's a restaurant/bakery right on Main Street. They have really good pastries (a little pricey). I had a Pear-Mango muffin and it was delicious, got a blueberry muffin for Marv. They have Kouning Aman so I bought one, usually they sell out right away so I was glad to get one. It was good and had a nice flavor not quite as great as the one at Les Madeleines, but at least is closer :)
Then I went to the beach. I stopped in an area that was right across the oil island and the sand was not as clean as I'd like, but the waves were big and there were a lot of surfers. Then I drove up to Sunset Beach and found the perfect spot. The sand was clean and sparkly, the waves were just right, some seagulls and little birds flying around, and hardly any people. I walk around the seashore a while then I sat down and just relaxed listening to the surf and watching the waves.
Long Beach in the background with some smog over it, but no smog at the beach, just beautiful blue skies!
After the beach, I drove to Huntington Beach and went to Slap Fish for lunch, then I drove back home. I didn't meet with Norbert because I wanted to relax and enjoy the beach, not to listen to the same old song.

Haunted House?
I don't have much to write about today, but looking at images in the web, I saw this amazing house located somewhere in the Northeast US. I would love to see it in person and look inside, maybe even live there for a while. It looks like a beautiful haunted mansion!
I loved Hocus Pocus, I wish they celebrated Halloween here as they did in that town in Salem Mass.
Beach Day
Yesterday I went to Huntington Beach. It was such a nice beautiful day weather wise. Nice and warm but with a nice breeze. I met Norbert at his house because I had not seen him since he got the all clear from his neurosurgeon.
We had a nice time, went to eat at Ruby's, the fish and chips that Mia likes, very good and a black forest milkshake, The sea was a beautiful sparkling blue.
I need to go to the beach more often. I really like to get my feet wet and feel the waves, now there's not as many people as in the summer and the days are not as hot. Just lovely. Maybe Saturday Lizzie and I we'll go to watch the sunset, we'll see :)
Norbert acted normal. But of course just talked and talked and talked about his fiancee. He's acting pretty OC. There's a reality show on TV in TLC called "90 days", and is about women, and men, that come to the US with a fiance visa, and have 90 days to get married or he/she goes back to their country. I told him to watch, since 2 of the women are from the Phillipines.
Today I've been washing glassware and crystal etc, lots of work to get everything back in place!
I am going to watch the movie Hocus Pocus, I got sidetracked and haven't watched it yet!

New floor
We decided it was time to change the carpet, especially around the dining room. Lulu is an adorable dog, but -OK my fault- not so well trained. She
s doing better, but still has her "accidents" and we thought life would be easier, and more pleasant, if we put tile, or whatever is called, in the dining area and the entrance area. We chose a darker colored variegated wood look alike, it goes well with the oak furniture. The carpet is sort of brown and it goes better with our furniture than the one we had. We've been thinking of updating our furniture, I wanted some smaller chairs so we get more space, but they are not very comfortable (Lizzie and I tried many). We'll see.I also want to redo the small bathroom, but maybe not right away, I am exhausted lol. It'll be a while before everything goes back where it was, I have to sort out what I want to keep etc. Dusting, washing, organizing etc. not my favorite thing to do.
Only 13 days to go to Halloween. I miss not being in Kindergarten, Halloween used to be so much fun, I dressed up and so did the kids, and we had a parade and we had parties. Of course now they don't do that anymore :(
Tonight I will be watching "Hocus Pocus", I have never watched it, and I think it will be fun! I am going to watch Halloween type movies some of the days leading up to Halloween although I don't think I will watch any of the really scary ones!

Tired and achy
This week, especially the last couple of days, I have been cleaning, organizing, moving boxes, getting up and down the kitchen steps, reaching, throwing things away (and retrieving some back). Sort of like a Spring cleaning in reverse. I hope it'll be worth it :)
I also had my flu shot a couple of weeks ago and my arm is still a little sore. Did T get one? How about you Lizzie?
Have a nice weekend everybody and keep watching sports :)

TDBS and ..Who Are You?
Yesterday my computer had The Dreaded Blue Screen. I spent all day trying to get it fixed, virus scan, malware scan, disk scan, start in safe mode, etc. etc. After many many hours, countless moments of frustration, I was ready to buy another computer bit I DON'T WANT a windows 8. Is hard to find a new Winbdiws 7 but I did. However, today I started checking things again, and the culprit was a corrupted something or other in my Google Chrome. Now myt computer is running smoothly but I lost all my settings etc. Oh Well, at least is all nice and clean.
And so is my Jacuzzi. It's been out of order for about 2 months, but it's been so hot that I really was not going to use it anyway. Yesterday I had a repairman come and fix it: FL1 anybody? The filters were dirty, they need to be replaced every 2 years, the small motor was sputtering, so new filters, new motor and new pillows (where you lay your head in the Jacuzzi. He also emptied it and cleaned it and fill it up and put stuff in it and is all nice and clean and running. So toda I had a nice relaxing time in it :)
I talked for about over an hour with Norbert, and it seems to me he may need some medication again, all he did is complain and complain some more. About his sister -why didn't she feed him good fruits and vegetables when he weas sick- About his properties -he should sell everything and move to a small town in a one room cabin- About his fiancee -why if she acts like his sister, why if she doesn't like to go boating, why why why he should spend so much money on her- And on and on and on. Oh well.
In other news, I think I will go to a scrapbooking class at the library they have one the second Wednesday of every month. It's a small group, just 6 women, and it doesn't seem to me they know what's going on very much, just do simple things, nothing digital. But what I like is they have this long tables and very bright lights. I am going to take my pictures and spread them out and put them together in themes, for instance: My heritage, My Kindergaten years, Trips, etc. etc.
Now about WHO ARE YOU? When I started this blog, I had 4 readers, my husband, two daughters and sister. I don't advertise or put it in Facebook, or give the blog name away to other friends or relatives. Maybe somebody that reads Lizzie's or Sandy's or Mia's or Marvin's blog may read mine in passing. Let's say about 10 more people. A couple of years ago I checked settings and saw I had an average of 10-15 readers pero post, which seems about right. But this year, I am averaging 150+ readers per post!! The blew my mind. WHO ARE YOU? I see there's people from the US -the most- but some from all over the world - Sweden- Germany, France, Russia, Indonesia, Ireland, Slovenia, , to name a few. Anyway I am glad you read my blog and maybe find it entertaining or maybe you clicked on it by mistake? I would love to hear some comments, maybe I need to make my blog entries a little more fun ;)
Have a wonderful week, wherever you are, and take some time for yourself!

This and That
I haven't been feeling great this week, I had my flu shot but I caught a cold, sniffles, runny nose, sore throat, ear hurts, some fever etc. Nothing major, just made me feel run down and all I wanted to do is lay down and nap. Also the left side of my neck and shoulders have been giving me some problems, a touch or arthrities I think, it hurts to lift my arm and turn my head, it may have something to do with my cold maybe.
I went to Jersey a week ago and some of "my" kids came running and hug me, a little boy asked me if I knew DC and I said, yes he was my student in Kinder, and he smiled and said, he's my daddy. Cute, and so is his dad :) Maybe I caught a cold from all the kiddies, that happened a lot when I was teaching.
Wednesday the 10th I stayed up till 4:00AM looking at the full lunar eclipse. I find eclipses very awesome, I took pictures but my iPhone doesn't like nighttime. Somebody in La Mirada took an awesome picture, here it is:
While I was at Jersey I talked to my friends, Jennifer is back with Jason, surprise NOT! She really didn't tell me I had to get it out of her lol, I guess she didn't need to hear what I wanted to say, so I didn't say anything, only told her I hope she's happy, she said yeshm.
Norbert is doing OK, got his new Jacuzzi, has been working on his stuff, boat, trailers, pick ups etc and I told him he's doing too much too soon, but he doesn't listen, last night he called me and said his body ached, his head hurt, even his teeth hurt. I was not sympathetic.
Our neighbors across the street, John and Evelyn, both in their 80's, have sold their house and moved to Temecula where they bought a ranch. The house has been bought by 2 brothers, one is a professor, the other is a mechanic specializing in motorcycles, he's from Idaho. I hope they are good neighbors. This year we have had 3 new neighbors in the houses right across from us.
Marvin and I have decided to do some remodeling in the house. First thing is take off the carpet, and put new carpet in the living room and hallway, and pergo (is not really pergo but I can't think of the name) in the dining room and entryway. Lulu still has her share of "accidents" and even though i cannot smell, I'm pretty sure it does. Plus the stains! We want a new floor that should be easy to clean and a carpet that will be pet safe.
I guess that's about it for now :)

Trader Joe's
Sandy has been writing about her finds at TJ's. I find those posts entertaining, so today when I went to the store, I decided to write about my purchases.
I usually go to TJ's about 3-4 times a month, more often on holidays.I don't go there for regular every day shopping, it's more for special treats, and finding new things and just enjoying looking around. I usually spend more money that I want but I am always happy with my purchases.
Today I bought my usual dark chocolate almonds with sea salt and turbinado sugar, I am seriously addicted to them. I bought a chocolate ganache cake, it's rich and dark and delicious. A Ritter Sport chocolate with hazelnuts, can you tell I am a chocolaholic???
I also got a tomato and roasted pepper soup that Sandy likes. I bought one a couple years ago and I didn't care much for it, but I am going to try it again, I love roasted peppers and tomatoes. I also bought 2 things that were in the sample area and I never had them before. One was Korean style scallion pancakes, the other spicy chicken sausage. I had it for dinner and it was very tasty. I also got eggs and triple creme Brie.
Lastly, I bought a giant Danish Kringle. Last Christmas I had a sample and it was really good, when I went to buy one, they had already run out of them, so when I saw it today I went ahead and bought it, it was nice and soft and I was salivating.
When I got home, I opened it and was ready to cut me a slice when I noticed it said: Pumpkin Caramel kringle! I don't like pumpkin, the smell or the taste! I did eat a piece and it wasn't as bad as I feared, so I may have another piece ;)
