January Recap

January has been  very rainy month, which is good because it was very needed.

After the family left, it was very quiet and restful, but I miss them all! Marv and I are doing fine :)

The main thing that happened this month is Sandy had her knee replacement surgery on the 12th.
It all went well and she's recovering nicely.
Lizzie spent a weekend in Austin Texas, and then she  went to Sandy's house to help and care for her, for 10 days. Love those girls!

The next big thing that happened was the Inauguration of our new President Donald Trump. It's a little surreal that he won after defeating many Republican contenders and of course soundly defeating Hillary Clinton. I think it was a big shock to many, especially of course, the Democrats that still can't believe it or cope with it.  I wish  President Trump all the best!

And here's a list of the books and movies I read and watched in January:

Sonia and Nicole

I've been wanting to write a little more about Sonia and Nicole's visit. So here it goes:

December 21- Norbert and I went to pick them up at the airport. It was raining heavily and it took us a long time to find a parking at the airport. When we went inside to see if they were waiting, we found out there was a long delay at the baggage check out.  Finally they came out!
(I don't know why I cannot get the picture right)
We drove back to La Mirada but took the wrong turn and ended up in Santa Fe Springs. Amid the downpour we stopped at In n Out, at their request.

Dec. 22 Still raining. Took them to  La Mirada High School, then they went to Huntington Beach with Todd
Dec. 23   I drove them to Knottsberry Farm in the morning, they spent the whole day there. The family came from Utah and San Diego.
Dec 24  Christmas Eve. Marvin's family came over. All family day.
Grrr this is annoying that the pictures are sideways, it had not happened before :(

Dec 25 Christmas Day. First we had a big breakfast and around noon we opened gifts :)

                                                            Later on we had dinner
Dec 26  The whole family to El Cholo. In the evening everybody but Marvin and I, went to Long Beach to see the lights.

Dec. 27  Sonia and Nicole with T to Hollywood and to the Millenium in Studio City
Dec. 28  S & N took the Los Angeles/Santa Monica tour bus. Sandy and T and MT and Lizzie back to San Diego, and Utah
Dec 29   T took them to Disneyland, all day.
Dec 30    Finally I had a day with them, but they changed their mind several times and it annoyed me. Finally we ended up in Huntington Beach, another rainy day.
Now, why is this one the right way?

Dec 31 I took the to the train Station, they left to San Diego to spend New Year's Eve.
Jan 1    Back from San Diego with Lizzie.
Jan  2   Packing and getting things ready. T over, again.
Jan 3 Lizzie took them to the airport. Bye Bye.

All in all they had a good time, they went everywhere, thanks Todd and Lizzie. I wish we could have done more together, as we had planned, and I was a little disappointed but I understand they just wanted to go all over.

Does anyone know why my pictures are sideways?

Rain and more rain and good news

The good news is that Sandy had her knee replacement surgery today and everything went well.  They started her in therapy right away and even though she has a lot of pain, is a good thing so she gets used to working the knee and hopefully will have a quicker recovery.

I miss not being able to go and stay with her and help her, but right now is not a possibility. Thankfully Lizzie will be able to go and spend some time with her :)

We've had a rainy winter so far, with colder days than we are used to. When my niece and her daughter came over from Spain, they were a little disappointed with the weather (I guess they dreamed of sunbathing in the beach) but it all worked well. The days they went to Disneyland, and the L.A. tour and Hollywood, they had nice sunshiny days, however the 3 times they went to Huntington Beach, it was raining or cloudy and chilly.

It's raining a lot right now, we even had thunder and lighting, which is rare around here.

I will write more about how we spent Christmas, with all the family here, it was very nice and enjoyable.

All is quiet

Well is back to the two of us and Lulu.

The house is quiet and relaxing. Today it rained and it felt nice to be at home without anyone asking What are we going to do? Where are we going? It's too early/late to eat, etc etc.

Lulu seems a little lost, she brings me toys to play with and if I call her with a Spanish accent, she gets all excited and looks around to see who's calling her.

Today is the day when the Three Wise Men come and gives presents to all the good boys and girls. I kind of miss those days when I was little and woke up to see what Los Reyes Magos brought me. Also to see if the camels drank the milk and ate the cookies.

We are going to have an early dinner at the Black Angus, so I can use my birthday steak dinner coupon. I think I'll have the rib steak :)

I will write more about Sonia and Nicole's visit and put out some pictures. I think they both had a great time in California despite the rain.

Wishing all my readers a very
