Bonsai

If you remember from reading my blog, Marvin sent me a dozen yummy chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day. They were delicious, but the box that came in was bent and some of the berries were crushed (but still yummy!)

They sent a card along with the berries asking for some input, so I wrote back saying the berris were very good and I enjoyed them very much but the packaging needed to be improved. They answered right away saying they were sorry and offered to send me the same or something else of the sam value for free.
I thought that was very nice of them. After some thought I decided I had enough sweets (I practically ate all the 12 strawberries!) and asked for something else.

Today I got the package, and here it is:

I always wanted to have a Bonsai tree and now I have it, and it will remind me of  Marvin's Valentine gift when I look at it :)

This week Marvin and I went to Armstrong's and got some tomato plants, which we planted on Monday. I hope they grow nice fruits! They are beefsteak tomatoes.

Do svidaniya, Sochi!

Today was a strange one for me. Last night I watched 2 movies, "Adult World" (2013) with Emma Roberts and John Cusack, I didn't care for it very much, and "Return to Me" (2000) with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver, which was pretty cute. I didn't go to bed til past 3AM.

I woke up around 11AM, Marvin just got back from grocery shopping. I fed Lulu, took her out, ate my cinnamon roll and went back to bed. I slept a couple hours, Jennifer called and woke me up, then I checked my mail, had lunch (chicken salad on a croissant), and went back to sleep. I slept until 5:30PM. I watched a little TV, made my bed and was wondering what  we would have for dinner, Marvin said he'd go to get In'N'Out later.

After we ate, I watched the end of the Olympics, and I am now trying to decide if I should go to bed or watch a movie. Once in a while I have days like this, just tired and feeling like sleeping all day, and why not? :)

So I didn't accomplish anything today, other than get a good rest.

My Weekend

As I said in my last post, I went to the podiatrist (my feet are looking good!), thn I met Norbert for lunch. As I was getting out of my car he came and said Happy Valentine and gave me an envelope. Inside was a check for $500.00 with a note saying, thank you for helping me sell my beloved Corvette.

I thought it was a nice gesture (I had been hinting somewhat kiddingly, that I should get a commision), especially for him being a very tight Hungarian. But I gave it back because all I did was put the ad in Craig's List, and he's helped us
many times and done stuff for us so I didn't think it was right to keep it.
Do you think i was right in refusing it?  :)

Anyway we had a very nice lunch, his birthday is Wednesday, the same day as our Anniversary. He's going to Catalina because the ferry trip is free on your birthday, so is like a tradition for him to go on his birthday. Marvin and I will got to The Fish Company for a late lunc, I hope they have monkfish!

Lizzie came this weekend and it's always nice to have her here, we went to lunch to a funky old fish Restaurant, and Marvin fixed catfish for dinner, which was much better than the fish at the Restaurant. Sunday we had  out regular Sunday breakfast, and steak and garlic mayo for dinner.

Now i'm watching Jimmy Fallon, becauyse of the Olympics it didn't start until midnight, but I wanted to see how he did in his first day as Tonight host.

And now a tag I made in honor of the Olympics in the Category of curling (The Swedish women are doing well in curling) ;)

This and That

I have been watching the Olympics, it bothers me a little that is not live, unless you watch it online, and of course I have to  know who wins medals before I watch the programs. Kudos to the USA team that won gold, silver and bronze in the Freestyle Skiing Men's Ski Slopestyle.

I have also been watching movies, I'm trying to watch most of the nominees for Oscars in any categories. Last night I watched "Nebraska", surprisingly enough I enjoyed it very much. I was not sure I'd like it. I was telling Marvin about the movie, the funny parts and the not so funny. I even got all misty telling himj about the ending of the movie.

Today when we got home from dialysis, the UPS man left a package by the door. It was from Shari's Berries. I opened it and it was from Marvin, a dozen beautiful chocolate dipped strawberries. I don't know if they were not packed right or what, but the box was bent and some of the fruit was broken, but it still tasted wonderful. That was a nice surprise! :)

Tomorrow I have a podiatry appointment, and after that I am meeting Norbert at El Torito for lunch. He's been wanting to sell his Corvette because he doesn't use it at all, so I advertised it at Craig's List for $28,000. It's a 2002 model but with only 3000 miles, it spent the time in the garage. In a matter of a couple of days he sold it for the full price. I think I should get a commision :)

Looking forward to seeing Lizzie this weekend!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY  everybody!

Do I have an accent? ;)

It just happened a few minutes ago :)

Last month we ordered a lamp for Marvin's desk. They said it would take  3-5 days to get here, that was January 10. I called them and they said it was on back order it would take 10 days, after that time I emailed them and so on...I was getting annoyed.

Finally today I got an email saying I will be getting it in 5 days.

Marvin was watching a show on TV and he was very interested in it, but I walked to the living room and said very happily:

The lamp has shipped!!!!!

He looked at me  strangely and said what? I proceeded to tell him i got an email from Lamps Plus saying that.

He said...oh! I thought you said:

The lamb had sheep!

I don't know, I just found it funny! :)

A joke :)

A business man got on an elevator.

When he entered, there was a blonde already inside who greeted him with a bright,
"T-G-I-F"
He smiled at her and replied,
"S-H-I-T"

She looked puzzled and repeated,
"T-G-I-F,"   more slowly.
He again answered,
"S-H-I-T."

The blonde was trying to keep it friendly, so she smiled her biggest smile, and said as sweetly as possibly,
"T-G-I-F."

The man smiled back to her and once again ,
"S-H-I-T."

The exasperated blonde finally decided to explain.
'T-G-I-F'   means   'Thank God, It's Friday.'   Get it,  duuhhh?"

The man answered,
" S-H-I-T' means 'Sorry, Honey, It's Thursday'

Superbowl, rain, and a win!

Congratulations to the Seahawks, what a blowout, I don't think anybody was expecting it. I enjoyed the half time, Bruno Mars was awesome and I enjoy the bare chestd Chili Peppers :)

Marvin and I just stayed home, I made guacamole and had my Coronitas. I was going to  rlax inth Jacuzzi but thn I got involved doing something else and by that time th game had started.

And tonight it rained!!!!! Not a lot, but nough so Lulu refused to go outside, so she's in the kennel now.

And about my win, yesterday I was checking Facebook and was looking at the "You Know You Grew up in La Mirada if..." comments, when  a guy named Glen Cantrell posted an old picture of La Mirada, side by side to a picture of the same spot now. He asked  where was it? He said the first 2 persons that gave the right answer would win a book.I looked at it and I knew right away it was La Mirada Blvd north of Imperial, by the convalescent home. So I was the second person that guessed correctly and I won a book http://www.lamiradabook.com/
By the way there were 44 people that gave the answer, some were right some not. But I guess I was at the right place at the right time. It was fun to win! :)

And now, I am about to what a movie, one I had alrady seen when it first came out, but it is appropriate for today..."Groundhog Day" (1993)

Have a nice week!
