End of month recap

February is a short month, but it has been pretty busy.

The main event was our 50th Wedding Anniversary, with our daughters. I have written about it :)

My friend's fiancee got here on the 11th, and as expected, he still has not made up his mind to get married or not. In all fairness, things haven't gone as he expected. She's staying with her aunt and oncle, they have a daughter that attends University to become a nurse. They are very strict, and she has to be home by 7PM, she cannot travel out of State to meet  N's sister in Las Vegas. Many days they don't even see each other, she likes to go to the Mall with her cousin. Today they had a party in her uncle's home with friends of her daughter, and he was not invited. They said she  may go to Florida to visit her sister, who's married to an American. But he is not invited to go, etc. etc.

She says she wants to get married and to be with him forever, but she hasn't shown any signs of wanting to be with him or shown him any affection. He's been calling me daily, saying it all has been a mistake, the next day he tells me he will get married, the next day he doesn't want to get married, doesn't even like her that way but doesn't know how to break it, and so on ad nauseam. I am so tired of it, of him trying to make  up his mind. Oh well is his life.

And now here's the list of movies I've seen this month:

10,000 Km (2014) Catalan/Spanish
Amira and Sam (2014)  US
Hector and the Search for Happiness (2014)  Germany
Love, Rosie (2014)  UK   -Where Rainbows End-
Mig ager ingen (2013)  Swedish

The Rewrite (2014)  US

And the books I've read:

Rainbow Rowell - Fangirl
Mary Jane Clark - Footprints in the Sand
Jenny Colgan - Amanda's wedding
Whitney Gaskell - Table for Seven
Katherine Center -The Lost Husband
Stuart Woods - Paris Match
Mark Childress - Georgia Bottoms
Jeanne Ray - Eat Cake

Looking forward to a great month of March!

Update

I haven't been writing too much lately, so I thought I would let you know about our 50th Anniversary.

On Thursday,  Sandy flew down from Utah and Lizzie drove up from San Diego. It was really nice to be the four of us together :)

Marvin went to dialysis and I went to pick Sandy at the airport, we went out to lunch to Los Compadres, it was OK but very noisy. Then we went to pick up Marvin.
That night Lizzie came and she brought us my absolutely favorite cake,TRUFFE FRAMBOISE with ripe, juicy raspberries and raspberry tea infused bittersweet Valrhona chocolate mousse layered in between chocolate ganache and Kirsch moistened chocolate cakes. It was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers too! I could eat all of it, and basically that's what I did!

On Friday, Sandy treated us to a very nice lunch at the Black Angus Restaurant. It was delicious! we all love the cheese bread, and they also brought a freshly baked big cookie with ice cream, to help us celebrate. The rest of the day we just talked and watched TV, for dinner we were still full from the late lunch so we only had we had ham and cheese sandwiches.

Saturday it was dialysis day, so the girls took him and I stayed home and slept till the girls got back. Then we did our traditional lunch the by going to El Cholo

Again we were pretty full so we only had empanadas for dinner, which were enjoyed by all.

On Sunday we enjoyed grilled steaks with all i oli, potatoes and green beans with slivered almonds. Lizzie left to go meet Jeff and friends to watch the Oscars. Sandy, Marvin and I watched the Oscars at home, it was very enjoyable. I polished a bottle of Freixenet while watching it. I don't think it was the best Oscar show I've seen, I didn't care too much for the nominated movies, I had only seen two of the, Boyhood and The Best Budapest Hotel, I enjoyed them both but they didn't win. It started raining and it rained a lot all night.

Monday morning we drove Sandy to the airport. Marvin gave me a beautiful gold heart and chain, the heart had I love you engraved on it. Our daughters gave us the gift of family portraits. We had them taken the day after Christmas when everybody was there.

We sure had a really nice 50th anniversary, we enjoyed every minute of it.

Friday the 13th

I hope you all had a good Friday the 13th,
since I have a teenage grandson, this made me chuckle...

My day started early,I had an appointment for Lulu for grooming, she looks all pretty now.

I went to the store to get supplies to make chicken enchiladas tonight. Then I went to Pho Saigon to get some eggrolls for lunch. The rest of the day was pretty quiet, it was very nice outside so I did a bit of gardening.

Last night I went to have dinner with Jennifer, we had a nice time, lots of talking but not too many laughs. She talked to the Sons of Anarchy, my motorcycle neighbors, and they may buy her 3 dirt bikes.

Norbert seems to be doing OK with Crista. They went to the beach and he bought health insurance for her since he's responsible for her while she's here.

Tomorrow is dialysis day, but we are going to Urgent Care early because Marvin has a problem with his right leg, it's all red from the knee to the ankle, and the skin is stretched really tight. On Thursday he woke up really weak and had trouble walking, but after dialysis he felt better. Yesterday he was feeling OK but his leg was sore and this evening after his shower he showed it to me and I said we'd go to Urgent Care tomorrow, I hope they don't send us to ER. I thought maybe something bit him, he had a problem with a leg bite last year, but this one seems different. We'll see. I''ll text you when I find out what it is.

That's about it for Friday the 13th. After typing this, I realize I may need a new keyboard, the space key doesn't seem to be working and I have to go back and correct it all the time.

Oh by the way, I changed my word. I don't know if it's allowed but "perseverance" although true, just didn't ring right, plus I couldn't pronounce it :) My new word is "adaptability" something I've had to do over and over, to adapt to new situations/circumstances. I like that.

And today I made this tag, so I think I''l share with you. It's me :)

Have a good weekend everybody. And a Happy Valentine's day!

Book or Movie?

I think one of us touched on this theme before, but maybe I'm wrong.

I just finished watching a British 2014 movie called "Love, Rosie". It is based on a 2004 novel by Irish author Cecelia Ahern called originally "Where Rainbows End" although the title of both the book and film are now Love, Rosie.

I enjoyed the movie, although the story spans several years and both main characters look almost exactly the same at all ages.

I got to thinking...is it better to read the book and then see the movie? Or to see the movie and then read the book.?

It probably depends on each person. I think I prefer reading the book first and imagining the characters, locations etc. Then watch the movie see if it comes close to what I imagined.

Many times I've seen a movie and then find out it was based on a book, usually I try to read the book afterwards.

And sometimes I read a book and wish they would make it into a movie.

What do you prefer?

Busy February

There's quite a few things coming up this February, the main one will be Marvin and I will be celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary on February 19. That's a long time to be married, quite an accomplishment.

Both our daughters will be here to celebrate with us :)

February is also the birth month of my two best friends, on the 18th Jennifer will turn 43, and Norbert will turn 59 on the 19th.

Also on the 11th, Norbert's fiancee will be arriving to California.

Yesterday I went to lunch with N to Acapulco in Long Beach. He was the best I've seen him all year, we discussed everything, he was his old self and I really hope he and Crista get along well and will marry after the 90 days. But is going to be hard for both of them, is hard to assimilate to a new country, new culture, and they are so different. Hmm sounds familiar!

Today MArv and I went to El Cholo, I just think they have the best Margaritas. The one I had yesterday in Acapulco was pretty blah.

I have been planting geraniums in our driveway, I hope they make it. I think geraniums grow really well in our area :)

That turned out to be a pretty rambling post. I hope it warms up a little in Sweden, we have been having nice weather, surprise? I think not. A lot of trees are blooming already.

I hope you all have a nice week :)
