Marvin's 72nd Birthday

Yesterday was Marvin's birthday. He turned 72 years old. We were happy to celebrate with our daughters Sandy and Lizzie, and of course, our dervilish/angelic dog Lulu.

It was a very nice day. In the morning, the girls took Marvin to dialysis, then they came home to pick me up and we went to El Cholo for lunch.
My Margarita was so strong that I had the girls drive me home so I could nap lol. They went to the store to do some shopping.

When they came back they went to pick up Marvin, the FedEx man came by with a package. I could tell they were flowers for Marvin from Mia :) He was happily surprised when he came home and some the gorgeous roses, and candy and the little bear. Lulu fell in love with the bear! she wanted it.

The girls cooked dinner under Marvin's supervision. It was really yummy and the best part was that I did nothing! I really enjoy my meals a lot better when I don't have to cook it. We had potato salad and deviled eggs, asparagus, and fried catfish. For dessert strawberry pie with whipped cream.Delicious!
The girls gave Marvin a iPod, so he can listen to music whenever he wants.( I got one too for Mother's Day a little earlier:)
All in all it was a lovely day.
Today Sunday his brother and sisters and Christina and Rick are coming. We are having a taco bar featuring carnitas!
Then Marvin wants to go for a ride in his SSR...he misses that car!

Easter

Today was a very special Easter. Marvin came home yesterday after spending almost a whole month at the hospital and at the rehabilitation facility in Long Beach. And the best thing is that he's feeling well and stronger :)

In the morning, he and Lizzie went outside and stayed for a while, with Lulu, enjoying the sunshine and mild weather and looking and smelling the beautiful flowers.

We had an early lunch because Lizzie had to drive back to San Diego and also the home health care nurse was coming over. As per Marvin's request I made paella, and it came out pretty good. We all enjoyed it and the pa amb tomaquet and asparagus, and flan for dessert.

After we ate, we switched Marvin's chair to a different spot, so he has a better view of the backyard. It looks good.
Lulu was happy to have three people paying attention to her. She was well behaved.

All in all it was a very nice day. We missed Sandy and family, and also Mia. They were here last year. but I am sure they all have a great Easter as well :)

Spring

Beautiful day in La Mirada, a little wind left the sky bright blue. I took Lulu for a walk in La Mirada Park next to the library. She had fun looking at the ducks and sniffing around.

At home, I planted hanging tomatoes and peppers, I also planted petunias, gerbera daisies and violas. The roses are blooming, I think Spring has got to be my favorite season :)
Marvin is due to come home on Saturday, it will be nice to have him around for Easter. Lizzie is coming this weekend too :)

I wish all of you that read this blog a wonderful Easter!

The Hoarder

Yes, I am talking about Lulu.

I have been missing some things lately, a house shoe, a sock, her red ball, a new toy, a brand new rawhide bone, etc. I have looked all over the living room, under the couch, and the chairs, under the table, under my bed, in the spare room, etc.and ...nothing!

I was sitting on my desk, working in the computer, and Lulu was sitting next to me busily chewing on a toy, then she got between my feet and started scratching and whining and looking at me. I thought her bone went under the desk and got down on my knees, got my back scratcher and moved it around under my desk.

Out came my shoe, her ball, her chew toys, etc. etc. She had been hiding them for a while, it was just packed! and I had never noticed. She was happy getting all her stuff, I was happy to get my stuff back.

I am now trying to house break her. Good luck to me :)))
