Books and movies, and stuff

I talked about it a while back,  read the book or watch the movie, what to do first?  I decided I will read the book first and then see the movie. So now I am looking for books that were made into a movie. I have seen many,of course, but now I am going to do it semi methodically and keep track:)

I have never read a book by Nicholas Spark, but I know they have made a lot of movies from his books, I have seen a couple of them. I went to the library and took one of his books, it's "The Lucky One" and of course it was made into a movie, starring Zac Efron. I have started reading it and I have the movie too.I will watch it after I finish the book.

This was a random post so will keep on rambling.

Lulu is 3 and a half years old, and I have decided she needs to start acting her age. So with no warning, I took away her kennel. She's been doing really well, at night she goes to her pillow when she gets sleepy. When we go out, she sits on her pillow and waits for her treat. So far so good, and there have been no accidents. I am proud of her.

My computer is still not working right, I already chose my next one and will order it from HP this weekend, I'm still transferring stuff to my external hard drives.

And finally I have to say that I am really enjoying reading my  daughter's blogs, and Mia's.  Good job writing!

Not a great week- boring post

Last time I wrote was the day after the girls and Tristan left.
I didn't write anymore until today because really it was a pretty crappy week. In many ways.

We went to the wound nurse on Monday, she did her thing and it seemed to be OK. The next day it was Marvin's birthday,we decided we would go out to eat the day after because of dialysis, so we didn't do anything and he was not feeling great.

Wednesday I had an appointment with the ophtalmologist at 7:45AM, eyes dilated,my dry eyes are a lot better but my vision in the right eye is bad (long distance), I also have a freckle in my left eye and the beginning of a cataract. However, the doctor said my eyes are 10 years younger than me?! He seemed very pleased. After that I had some blood tests again, then drove home. My pupils were enormous!

When I got home, I went with Marvin to a different Kaiser for his blood test. We decided to go to a late lunch after I took a nap because my eyes were still very dilated and I couldn't read or play in the computer. When I woke up Marvin said he was not feeling well,so we didn't go to eat.

Thursday he went to dialysis, he was not feeling well, when he came home he was very weak. I was not feeling great either, I think I was catching a cold. I spent most of the day in bed, just getting up to go pick him up.

Friday we got a call from dialysis that we needed to go ASAP to ER because his blood was very low, so we got there by 9 and luckily there were not too many people, they admitted him and came the long wait for test results etc etc. I was feeling queasy and went to the cafeteria but I had some soup that made me even sicker. Finally around 1:00 the doctor said he needed 3 units of blood and to get ready for transfusions. Still more tests to match the blood etc. He said it be probably late at night when he would be thru. I left and went to the wound nurse again since we had another appointment, just to tell her he was in the ER and to ask if she had talked to a doctor. They gave me the round about because the appointment was for Marvin not me (duh) so I had a mini meltdown and left and drove home and went to bed.

Later on I had a message from Lizzie that Marv had called her to say he wouldn't be ready till about 8AM. So I went to sleep and didn't get up till 6AM, I went to pick him up, then to dialysis and I went back home to bed.

So today is Sunday and he's feeling OK, I'm feeling a little better, we had grilled steaks with aioli. And tomorrow back to Kaiser for a cardio test.

And then, there's the computer. It comes and goes, right now is the longest it has been working. I have to buy new one, and a new keyboard. My PSP is not working, my mail server is not working etc etc. Just thinking of having to transfer stuff, losing lots of things, and starting over makes me nauseous!

In the plus side, I saw a movie that made me laugh. The Wedding Ringer.

Here's hoping for a better May :)

A very nice weekend

I realize I haven't written too much lately. I have been way busy. Last Saturday  I had to take M to the ER, he's OK now, he didn't even have to have a blood transfusion or stay the night. Then on Monday he had to go to his internist, and then on Wednesday he has to have some surgery on his face.

With all this going on, I was trying to finish cleaning my closet, take things to the shed, mop the bathrooms and kitchen floors, vacuum the house, grocery shopping etc. etc. I seem to leave things always for the last minute.

And then on Thursday we went to the Long Beach Airport to pickup Sandy and Tristan :)They came over to celebrate M's 75th birthday (it actually is on the 21st). T asked me if I could make croquetas and of course I did, very pleased he likes my cooking. Lizzie got there a little later. Lulu of course got over excited to everybody!

The next day M went to Polly's and bought huge cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and he and T went  to FYE to do some shopping. We had a late lunch at Panda Inn, another of T's favorites and ours also. T and I had soup, then we all had Phoenix chicken, Panda Beef, fried fish in a yummy sauce, Lemon chicken, honey walnut shrimps and sesame roasted asparagus.  It was super good!    Sandy, T and I went to Target and did some shopping. When we came home we sat outside and chatted and looked at the hummingbirds feeding and bathing. Then we watched TV and had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. The best thing was to be all together. It was nice.

Saturday they took M to dialysis and then we went to our traditional place for lunch, can you guess Mia? yep El Cholo! Love those Margaritas!

Later after they picked Marvin at dialysis, the girls went to the movies to see "The DUFF" , I watched it at home, it was a fun teen movie. Lizzie gave M a deep fryer/stock pot, it'll be good for frying catfish! For dinner some had Chipotle, some had sandwiches.

And then, too soon, it was Sunday. M went shopping and I started working on breakfast: Belgian waffles, sausage and bacon. Then they helped with a few things around the house and got ready to leave. Lizzie took them to the airport.

It was a very enjoyable 4 days. The weather was very nice and we all enjoyed each other's company. I love them all very much and I was happy!

I am shrinking and T's growing taller!

Totally annoyed! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Some stupid(s) SOB egged my beautiful red Mustang last night. My neighbor told me about it and sure enough I went out to check and they had thrown 4 or 5 (raw) eggs and made a mess of it :(

Marv took it to get it washed and detailed right away so the egg didn't bake in the paint. They did a good job and it looks beautiful now.

There's been a Texas truck parked in front of my home for 5 days.I had parked my car right behind it, the truck didn't get egged but the gas  cap was hanging out out, I don't know if it was like that before. I noticed it when I looked at my car. I asked around and it doesn't belong to anybody in the neighborhood, so I called the sheriff and gave  description and the license plate, they came and put a warning red note in the antenna with a parking violation. If they don't move it within 72 hours they will  tow it away. Weird.

My next door neighbors, the ones with the barking dogs, are  giving me the cold shoulder.  I guess they got pissed off with me after I complained and wrote a letter asking them to please do something about the dogs barking.  I don't know what they did but the situation  with the barking has improved considerably. Frankly I much prefer they don't talk to me and have the dogs quiet, than have the dogs barking nonstop while they are gone and have them say hello to me :)

I have to say when I saw my car egged, the only  one in the street that was egged.., it made me wonder...

Happy Easter, Happy Spring, Happy Happy Everything!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

In the morning, while Marv went to the store, I found more ants in the kitchen. I tried to find where they are coming from and I decided to empty my kitchen covers. Big job! I took everything out of the bottom ones and put most of it in the dishwasher, then I washed the cabinets inside and out and placed some liners inside. I found things I thought I had lost, like my paella pan. I threw away a lot of stuff that I have not used or don't want them anymore. Yesterday I also cleaned the refrigerator. I guess I am in a cleaning mood.

After breakfast (I had my usual cinnamon roll from my favorite bakery, thanks Marv), I went outside and checkedmy newly planted petunias. I noticed the fountain was not bubbling too much, so Marv and I decided to clean all the muck in it -leaves,feathers, seeds,dirt- the birds, including the hummingbirds, love to take baths in it but they sure make a mess. So now the fountain is happily bubbling again.

For dinner we had carne asada, refried beans, Spanish rice, home made guacamole and salsa, I also had a Margarita. It was a very good meal :)

Yesterday I took Lulu for a walk at the park, she is always ready to go out. It was a lovely evening close to sunset time. I heard some noise behind us and this young boy was walking his dog, we walked side by side while Lulu and Benjie were getting acquainted. His mother and some other people caught up with us and we talked about the dogs, theirs was also a maltipoo but more maltese than poodle, Lulu is the reverse. Benjie was younger and smaller than Lulu but he was a very horny male. Lulu was getting annoyed with him trying to mount her, I told them that Lulu was spayed so no chance of things happening. But they were so cute together.

Hmmm I am not sure it shows?
