Full Moon

Today was a gorgeous winter day Southern California style. Daytime was about 72 degrees with clear blue skies, we could see the snow mountains in the background. It cooled off at night to about 62 degrees, but still clear and with the most gorgeous full moon, it made our backyard so beautiful, I could almost read a book while enjoying the jacuzzi. I had to take a picture, my camera is not so good but it shows the perfect yellow circle, beautiful!

Things are quiet around the house with Marvin in Utah, I know he's enjoying his stay there :)

I went to have dinner with Norbert at El Torito after school, it was yummy. I have no weekend plans, just doing some grocery shopping, going to the library, and watching the Grammys on Sunday.

Football and other stuff

My 2 favorite teams didn't make it, Dallas got steam rolled by Minnesota, and the Chargers unfortunately couldn't keep their early lead to the Jets.
I am now watching The Golden Globes, most of the people I liked lost too, but The Hangover won for best comedy and Jeff Bridges for best actor, so is not all bad.
It is raining, they are saying we have 3 storms coming one after the other, which means a wet week. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and windy, it's MLK holiday but I have a doctor's appointment, so I guess I'll have to brace the elements.
Yesterday Marvin and I went out to dinner to El Torito Grill, they kindly sent me a voucher for a free meal for my birthday, I am liking all those free dinners :)
They just announced Avatar won best picture, blah! Sandy didn't like it, is not my type of movie either and I am not planning on watching it.
I will sign off with a pretty picture of the sunset in Huntington Beach I took with Marvin on New Year's Day :)

Last day of vacation

Grrrrr back to work tomnorrow, at least I had an extra day to relax!. Marvin and I took advantage of the lovely Southern California weather to take an SSR ride to the beach. Everything was really quiet, I guess people has finished partying.
We had a late lunch at El Ranchito in downtown Main Street Huntington Beach, we both had the chicken tortilla soup and it was great, the chips and salsa were crisp and fresh and the Margarita was yummy.
It was a nice ending to the holiday season (although Wednesday is The 3 Wise Men Day).
By the way, I was looking through some old pictures and found this funky looking couple, does any of you know who they are?

Best Hotel :)

I want to write about the hotel we stayed at in South Las Vegas. It was the M Hotel that opened March 2009. Marvin wanted to spend New Year's Eve in Las Vegas, but after checking availability and prices we decided we wouldn't. I was trying to decide where to stay when we stopped in Vegas on the way back home and Jeff asked if I knew about M hotel. I didn't so I went to check it in the Internet. http://www.themresort.com/ It looked good so I made the reservations. The resort hotel is not in the strip per se, but that was OK. We were impressed by the look of it, everything was beautiful and elegant. We were upgraded to a 2 queen beds room with strip views in the 5th floor. The room was large and lovely, beautiful comfortable beds, floor to ceiling windows, big 42" HD TV, gorgeous bathroom. Everything was clean and fresh and new. We went for dinner to the Red Cup Cafe which had gorgeous Art Deco murals, we were seated on a table overlooking the terrazzo and pool, where they had the largest cut Christmas tree in the US at 109 feet. We were not very lucky in the gambling department, although Marvin got a cool cap when we signed up for the iRewards. In the morning I went downstairs to the Baby Cakes Bakery which made my mouth water just looking at the great pastries.
All in all we had a great stay, very enjoyable and we plan to stay there again :)
