Beach Day

This morning I went to my regular doctor for a checkup and  I'm glad to say all is well :)

Afterwards, I went to Norbert's to see if he wanted to go out for lunch. He sure did! I am glad to say that he's doing very well and is back to "normal" or as normal as he can be lol.

It was a beautiful day and I told him it was his turn to choose where to go. He chose one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants in downtown Huntington Beach called "El Ranchito"  they have a really good chicken soup, it has rice, avocado, a tasty broth and of course chicken. I had that plus one chicken taco, and salsa and chips. He had Chingalingas with rice and beans. Chingalingas is a funny name!  I also had a great Margarita on the rocks.

After we ate, we walked to the pier, to watch the action. They are getting ready for the US Open of Surfing  July 25. There were a lot of people in the beach, and it was just nice to walk around the pier. In the way back, we stopped to have some ice cream.

When I got home, Marv had been cooking a beef brisket, but the meat was not quite tender for dinner,we'll have it tomorrow.so I just made a big potato and onion omelette or tortilla de patatas, and it was good.

At night, I took Lulu for a short walk.

It was a nice day.

Getting fit

Today I went ahead and bought a Fitbit One. http://www.fitbit.com/ca/one
I hope it will help me (or shame me) to do some exercise . I always keep putting exercise in the back burner, so to speak. But after I had that health scare, which luckily came to nothing :) I decided I need to take better care of myself and my health.

I am drinking a lot of water and I have been taking Lulu for little walks around the block and we both enjoy it, I want to do a little Gazelle too, but haven't started it yet.

I also need to pay more attention to my diet. Even though I am diabetic, I haven't done any kind of diabetic diet and pretty much eat everything I want. I love chocolate too! I know for a fact that I wouldn't be able to count points etc, so I will just try to eat smaller portions or something like that. Wednesday I have a Dr's appointment. I have a bunch of questions to ask him.

Today I went to Costco and got a 3TB external HD, Marvin wanted one to save Quicken and some pictures. After checking his hard drive we decided he didn't need so much space, so I gave him one of my 3 external HD (500GB's) and kept the 3TB's for myself. It'll be full in no time :)

The weather as usual has been great, it cools very nicely in the evening. Our hanging tomatoes are doing very well, I thiunk is my favorite way to grow them. Hopefully the little rodents won't get to them.

Today is my sister Nuri's 74th Birthday. We have not been in touch for quite a long time, although I hear about her and the rest of the family through Sonia.

PS Why the.#$@%  it's so hard to open those dumb plastic cartons that surround the miniature fitbit? and not even a little card with directions inside on how it works? grrrr I guess I have to go online and set it up/learn about it!

Independence Day

This year, our 4th of July was not too great.

Marv had to go to dialysis and I came back home and vacuumed the house.

After I picked him up, we stopped by Taco Bell to get him some taco supremes.

I went to wash a couple of dishes and found out the sink is clogged!!! We'll have to wait till Tuesday
to get it fixed. In the meantime I put some baking soda and white vinegar down the drain and it seems to help some.

At night, Lulu and I sat outside and looked at the neighborhood fireworks. She is not scared of them, basically she ignored the whole thing. A couple of times there was such a big bang that it  triggered the alarms in the vehicles in the street (including our pickup) . Lulu's ears perked up a little.

This is what I had to eat today:

 1 chocolate chip cookie
1 egg omelette with  a few hash browns
Angel hair pasta with chicken and a dash of olive oil
Many glasses of water

Marvin's 4th of July meal:

I don't know what he had for breakfast
3 slices of roast beef  for lunch
3 tacos supreme from Taco Bell
2 pork chops with carrots and angel hair pasta
He had some snacks, and 1 Coronita :)

Not really your average 4th of July fare!

Why didn't we have the traditional grilled steak with garlic mayo etc?  Well because I have to have a procedure on Monday and that's what I had to eat, and Marvin was OK with what he had. Last Sunday Norbert came over and we had the steak dinner!

Tomorrow is an all liquid day.

I hope you all had a good weekend!

Royalty

I have not been posting too much lately because there's not a lot of new things to say.

My new computer is working fine and I have been downloading and uploading stuff, and playing with it.

I watched the wedding of Sofia and Carl from Sweden. They had 3 royal weddings in the last 5 years, all of them were great .There was also the birth of Victoria and Madeleine daughters, and just yesterday Madeleine had a baby boy.

I have to admit I was surprised at the amount of horrible comments about Sofia's past. To me they looked to be so happy and so much in love. It's interesting how many royals have married "commoners". I guess they need new blood, there's been too much inbreeding. BTW I think the boyfriend of her sister Lina was very good looking ;)

I'm just wondering who pays for all that? the Swedish taxpayers? I have read there's a lot of Swedish people that love the royals -my sister among them- but also there's a lot that  don't  like the Monarchy. I think the same happens in a lot of countries with royals. I know the Spanish Monarchy is not loved by the majority of people in Spain.

I liked to see their weddings and baptisms, etc. I like to look at the way they dress and act, is fun. I enjoyed the baptism of the baby twins of Monaco. Is just like movies, wearing their tiaras, and long dresses and just being royals :)

I was not going to write about royalty, it just happened. If you want to see the latest news and pictures of royalty, this is a great site:

Here they are, the new royal couple
