Musically speaking

 I like that sometimes Sandy posts about some music she's listening to or that she likes. So I think I will try to do that too.

~JERUSALEMA~

 I heard it first in Tik Tok. It's a South African song, from Angola, and there's a dance that has gone viral, people from all over the world has done a version of it.  The original is from a South American DJ and producer named Master KG, featuring Nomcebo. 

I will also put a link to the song danced by an African family in Boise Idaho. If you check You Tube there's many versions of that dance, some very cool ones.

I hope you listen and enjoy it.

Fun Fact: I learned the words in the original language (Zulu) and I can move to  it (very badly) along with the video :)

Something different

I was hoping for something a little different for September, but the first couple of days were the same as August, hot weather, staying at home, going to TJ's etc.

One day in August Lizzie and I talked about having a "drinking day" at home. On Friday she got tacos from Reventaco for lunch. I had 2  crispy fish tacos with no cabbage and extra crema. It was delicious, we usually have Reventaco once a week. I had a Coronita with it. I was going to take a picture of the lunch but by the time I though about it, I had already finished it. But I took one anyway.

After lunch, we decided to have a Margarita, it comes in an 8oz can and it has the tequila in it, it's pretty good. We went outside and drank the Margarita, and then we had another, and another. We sat in the "galin galan" and talked and shared stories and had fun looking at Lulu running around the garden. 

We decided to have some more Margaritas, this time they were smaller cans and they were fizzy, we had 2 or 3 I guess. Then we went back inside and had some Mai Tais from the same San Diego Company  that made the 8oz Margaritas.

We kept on talking and about this time I decided I was getting tipsy.

I called Sandy, I called Norbert and I told him I was drunkish, I texted Sandy some very nonsensical words: "I'm like may e drinkish:$ Yassss!"

After that I sort of blacked out. Lizzie decided that I needed some fresh air and we went to take a walk with Lulu. It seems that I was saying hi to any neighbor that was outside on my street. 

When we got inside I was ready to go to sleep. I'm afraid  I puked a couple of times and then I lay down in my room, on the floor between my bed and the chest of drawers. L wanted me to get into my bed but I said I was comfortable on the floor but I wanted a pillow.

After a while I woke up and the world was turning so to speak, plus I was all yucky. I got into bed and the next day I asked L if she helped me put my nightgown on but she said I did it myself (I have no recollection of it).

At 4AM I woke up and went to take a shower and washed my hair, then I felt a little better. I also took an Alka Seltzer and went back to sleep.

Next day I of course had a hangover and a headache.

And that, dear readers, is what made my day something different. 

August Recap

The main thing about August is that it was HOT! We had many days around 100F and over. So good we have AC!
Basically August has been a repeat of May, June and July. The Corona Virus is still around soI've been staying home, just going out to walk Lulu, and a couple of times to Trader 's Joe. So glad I have a nice garden both front and back, with a great tomato plant, and nice flowers and herbs. 
Sandy and Marty has their 27th Anniversary, and also a new dog called Mac that keeps her busy!
Norbert had a fall again, still not so sure how he did it but he hit his back and shoulder pretty badly and call 911 to take him to ER. His sister came from Las Vegas to help him because he was in pain. He's OK now.
Lizzie and I are doing well. We've been eating very nicely this summer, getting take out, having Blue Apron and even  I cooked a few times. 
I watched a lot of movies, read a few books, and enjoyed posting daily in IG for #augustbreak2020.

Groundhog Day

July Recap

The month seems to have gone by pretty fast. I haven't done much of anything, still spending most of my time at home and in the garden. I have gone to the Library (outside) and to Home Depot (finally I was able to find red bark mulch and Lizzie and I, mainly Lizzie, did the garden around the fountain. I think it looks great :)

Our tomato plant has been doing very nicely and we had fresh tomatoes almost daily. 

Still a few left on the vine. It made me happy.

My sister Nuri turned 79 and I wanted to have a face chat, but she doesn't have a computer or a phone, so it didn't happen.  We have face time with Sandy on Mondays, which is great,and sometimes we even see T and Marty and Mac too :)

Today is the Anniversary of meeting N. Yes it's been 40 years!!! lol, and we still talk almost daily. But I haven't seen him since the pandemic started, no beach and no dining out :(

Lizzie and I are doing very well,  Food wise, we enjoy the Blue Apron and have take out at least once a week, and  we take turns cooking. She's good about exercising, but I am not and therefore I put a few xtra pounds. Oh well!

This month has been hot!  

Lulu likes to tour the garden with us, but needs to rest a while

A day in the life

With this pandemic going on and on, there's not much to tell since I have not gone anywhere since about March.  I want to tell my daughter S how much I enjoy and appreciate her writing in her blog, since we cannot be together it's a way to see what she's doing and how she's doing (feel better!) 

My days go like this: I wake up around 10:30 AM, I have breakfast usually chocolate milk and a cookie. I check my mail, read my book (yay I can get books at the Library now!), put things away in the kitchen etc.

L works from 8 to 10 in the office at home. After she's done  the 3 of us (Lulu) go in the backyard and take a slow walk around checking the plants, flowers etc. L usually waters them early in the morning. I love my herb area with rosemary, sage, mint, basil, thyme, lavender... We have many geraniums, and many pretty flowers. While we check the plants, Lulu runs around. It's very enjoyable. Then we go in the front yard and check the tomato vine, the zinnias, and the area by the white fence. Everything looks good. The crape myrtle is blooming and looks beautiful.

After that, we discuss the plans for the day, like what to have for lunch or dinner etc.  . We usually have take out at least once a week. We also have Blue Apron  about 3 times a week. Today it was a "free day" meaning we each do whatever we want to do foodwise. I had a brazo de gitano de atun (tuna cake) with fresh tomatoes from the garden. L had a chicken sandwich and chips.

After lunch, L goes to her room and does some of her stuff. I go to my room and do some PSP in my computer, while watching TV and reading. Doing some gardening etc. Sort of multitasking. Today I went to the library and got some new books, then drove around a little to see what was going on in La Mirada (nothing much) lol

Around 8PM we take Lulu for a walk around the block, she likes it and looks forward to it. So do we :)

For dinner I had a repeat of my lunch because I thought it was yummy and wanted more!

L goes to bed around 10:30 or so (she wakes up early and goes for a long walk most days.
I retreat to my room and watch TV shows or movies. Talk to N most days for about 1 hour too. I also watch webcams and spend quite a bit of time  "visiting" different countries of the world (it's interesting how things are changing in Europe from seeing empty streets/beaches/etc to seeing them full of people, especially the beaches. 

 I usually go to bed around 2:30-3 AM.  And so it goes.

4th of July and fireworks

I love fireworks, as I said before, I think I am the only one that likes them.

There's some people that shoot illegal fireworks, M80's and M100's, mostly they come from Mexico.They are EXTREMELY loud and they are called bombs, not fireworks. The noise set the car alarms, and scare the dogs ( and people). I don't like those. I like the beautiful ones that light up the sky with colors and shapes, some of the beautiful ones are also loud but not as loud as the "bombs"

Lizzie doesn't like fireworks, they give her anxiety. I didn't know about it and I was surprised last year when she told me about it. It didn't seem to bother Lulu much.

This year I have seen more fireworks from my front porch that any other years. Not only all over La Mirada, and surrounding areas but all over Los Angeles area. They even showed it on the news  helicopters flying over LA saying they had never seen so many fireworks going on.

I sat outside and sat on a chair I placed on the porch, and there were lots and lots of  great displays. Unfortunately among the beautiful ones there were also some bombs. Lulu didn't want to come out  not even to pee. Right now is past midnight and there's still  some going on.

The illegal fireworks carry a penalty of $1000.00, but the police need to see who's lighting them. So they have sent deputies riding bikes trying to catch some in the act. I hope they give some fines because really there's no need for those bombs and the horrible sound they make.

Other than that, it's been a nice day, Lizzie went for a hike, she watched Hamilton and discusses it with Sandy. We worked in the garden, and had an early dinner from Blue Apron, steak with green beans, potato cheese patties and sliced tomatoes, it was really tasty. Later my neighbor Amy brought some smoked BBQ ribs with corn and brownies.
