January recap

I was sick with a cold for a big part of the month, that was no fun.

It rained more in January than all of 2015, I think. We needed that!

Lizzie was here the second weekend of Jan. :)

Sandy and Marty went on a Caribbean cruise vacation :)

Tristan got all A's in his report card and was accepted by the University of Utah! :)

M had  some bleeding problems, thankfully we didn't have to go to ER.

I ended the month by cleaning and organizing some stuff

The art of eating

One of the things I want to do this year, is to try new restaurants, have different meals, not always going to the usual places and having the same meals.

Today we went to the wound nurse, when we left Marv said he wanted to have ravioli for lunch. We went to Carino's that's not too far from the doctor's office. They didn't have ravioli so he had tortellini and a salad, he enjoyed the meal, it was more Northern italian style , I like it better than southern style where everything is covered in tomato sauce.

I had my favorite spinach salad, with pecan encrusted chicken, bacon, thin crispy fried onion rings, bacon and gorgonzola. I had them put the spinach on the side, I like baby spinach but not as many as they put in the salad. It worked well. I know I was going to try something different but I do like that salad! We enjoyed our lunch.

Yesterday I met N in Long Beach, it was a beautiful sunnhy 72 degrees day. We usually eat at Acapulco by the  harbour, but I wanted to buy some pastries in Seal Beach so he drove me there. It's hard to find parking so he left me there and drove around. When he picked me up he told me about this restaurant he saw while driving and we decided to try it. 

The St. Germain Bistro is very cute inside, I liked the decoration and the lighting. The waitress was very nice, N asked her if she was french, she said she was Czech, so N had a long chat with her about his grandmother being Czech and how he had a car accident in Prague and how  he lived in France for a year and loved the St Germain du Pres area and that's why he chose this place to have lunch and blah blah blah, that man can talk!

                             This is what we had for lunch:

We had tapenade as an appetizer, I had croque monsieur and tomato bisque soup. N had a savory crepe of cheese and ham with mushroom bechamel and a salad. I had a Kir Royale to drink.

It was a good lunch.

A day at the park

I have been very lazy this month, of course I also have been sick with a cold. But still, I haven't felt like doing much of anything.
Today it was a very nice day, sunny, blue skies, and warm enough to put on the AC in the car.

In the morning I went to the SFS Library. Our Library will be close for a year because of renovations, so I'm back to the library I used to go when I was teaching. It is fun because they have lots of books, and a different set up0, so I got a lot of books I want to read.

When I got home, I made me some lunch and then I took Lulu for a walk at the park. It's a funny thing, she gets so excited getting in the car and going bye bye, then she happily trots in the grass , but when we come across some "wildlife" she sits and turns her back to them. There's lots of different kinds of ducks and geese and birds, they make a lot of noise and come quite close to us, but to Lulu, they are invisible! 

After walking for a little while, she starts pulling her leash and walking really fast and panting all at the same time. She directs me back to the car, she's had enough!

When we got back home, she drank and drank, so thirsty after all that exercise! I went and had a nice relaxing  time in the Jacuzzi.

I cooked some tilapia and macaroni and cheese for Marvin's dinner, but I didn't have any. Maybe I'll just have a muffin or something like that.

Tomorrow after Marv goes to dialysis I'll meet Norbert in Long Beach and have lunch and maybe take a little walk in the beach.

I have a cold

I have not been writing very much so far this year. I caught a bad cold on the 3rd and I can't seem to shake it. I've been taking cold medications, and sleeping a lot, and basically have not been doing much of anything.

Last week we had a lot of rain, then  a water main broke and we had no water for a few hours, next day our power went out. Just fun stuff.

Lizzie was here last weekend and we did have a nice time going to lunch and just having her here. I think she needed some rest too.

Sandy and Marty went to Miami, then Key West then back to Miami to go on a Caribbean cruise. I hope they have a lovely time.

Last but not least, I didn't win the $1.5 billion Power Ball.

And so it goes :)

Happy New Year!

I started the New Year with a cold. Took some alka seltzer and went back to bed, got up at 1PM. 

Cooked all day, will tell you tomorrow about my cooking spree. 

Now it's 9:00PM and I'm going to bed. I hope I'll feel better in the morning :)

JANUARY - To the ER on the 2nd day of 2015, Marv needed 3 pints of blood.

Glorious 2 weeks in Barcelona, Costa Brava and Sitges. WONDERFUL!

OCTOBER - Marv got  backache.pain on the 2nd
ER the 20th. for back pain and colostomy problems.
Lizzie went to Utah for a few days, sister's time :)

NOVEMBER - Lizzie the weekend of the 6th
