A joke :)

A business man got on an elevator.

When he entered, there was a blonde already inside who greeted him with a bright,
"T-G-I-F"
He smiled at her and replied,
"S-H-I-T"

She looked puzzled and repeated,
"T-G-I-F,"   more slowly.
He again answered,
"S-H-I-T."

The blonde was trying to keep it friendly, so she smiled her biggest smile, and said as sweetly as possibly,
"T-G-I-F."

The man smiled back to her and once again ,
"S-H-I-T."

The exasperated blonde finally decided to explain.
'T-G-I-F'   means   'Thank God, It's Friday.'   Get it,  duuhhh?"

The man answered,
" S-H-I-T' means 'Sorry, Honey, It's Thursday'

Superbowl, rain, and a win!

Congratulations to the Seahawks, what a blowout, I don't think anybody was expecting it. I enjoyed the half time, Bruno Mars was awesome and I enjoy the bare chestd Chili Peppers :)

Marvin and I just stayed home, I made guacamole and had my Coronitas. I was going to  rlax inth Jacuzzi but thn I got involved doing something else and by that time th game had started.

And tonight it rained!!!!! Not a lot, but nough so Lulu refused to go outside, so she's in the kennel now.

And about my win, yesterday I was checking Facebook and was looking at the "You Know You Grew up in La Mirada if..." comments, when  a guy named Glen Cantrell posted an old picture of La Mirada, side by side to a picture of the same spot now. He asked  where was it? He said the first 2 persons that gave the right answer would win a book.I looked at it and I knew right away it was La Mirada Blvd north of Imperial, by the convalescent home. So I was the second person that guessed correctly and I won a book http://www.lamiradabook.com/
By the way there were 44 people that gave the answer, some were right some not. But I guess I was at the right place at the right time. It was fun to win! :)

And now, I am about to what a movie, one I had alrady seen when it first came out, but it is appropriate for today..."Groundhog Day" (1993)

Have a nice week!

Last day of January

Time seems to fly sometimes. Here's the last day of January already. So it's time for a little recap.

The year started quietly, on Jan 6th, I got myself a Reyes Magos gift which was a 3TB external drive (now I can keep all my movies in one place). Other happenings were, we got our carpet cleaned, we got sick after eating at Panera, but we are all well now. I went to visit my teacher friends a couple of times, went out to lunch with Norbert a couple of times too, walk with Lulu to the park, relaxing in the Jacuzzi etc. Just normal pleasant day to day things :)
Also this month I heard from Mia that she will come visit in April. Looking forward to it!!! :)

An unfortunate thing, besides the Panera sickness, was I backed up the pick up  and hit a car of one of the staff  members at the dialysis place. Fortunately nobody was in the car, and nothing happened to the pick up. The insurance should take care of it.

Here is a list of the books I read this month:
James Patterson – The 12th of never
Stuart Woods – Unintended Consequences
Johanna Edwards – The Next Big Thing
Linda Francis Lee – The ex-debutante
Mia March – The Meryl Streep Movie Club
Linda Francis Lee – The Devil in the Junior League
Fannie Flagg – The all girls filling station last reunion
Susan Conant – Gaits of Heaven

And a list of the movies I watched:
About Time (2013)
Open Road (2013)
August- Osage County (2013)
Her (2013)
Blue Jasmine (2013)
Bad Grandpa (2013)
Win a date with Tad Hamilton (2004)
Sunshine on Leith (2013)

Happy Chinese New Year (Year of the Horse)

The Grammys

They were very long, like over 3 hours. It annoys me that it comes from Los Angeles, and instead of being live, we had to wait 3 more hours to watch it, when  everybody aklready knew who won and who did what. At least they had the red carpet live.

Other awards shows coming from LA are broadcast live in LA. Good for them, and thank you :)

What I liked:
Pink's performance. Good show, good song.  Ringo and Paul together (didn't care much for their performance) and even Yoko Ono was hovering around and John Lennon's son that looks just lik his father. The old timers, Willie, Merle, and Kris. I was surprised to find out Kris is older than Merle! (77 and 76) and Willie of course is 80, their voices are not as strong, but they had soul and they put on a good performance.  I guess  the things I liked sort of dates me eh?  ;)

What I didn't like:
Madonna singing "Same Love". I like the song but she sounded weird and looked sort of  strange with the cane etc.  I understood the 33 weddings, but I thought it was more of a stunt than anything else, and Queen Latifah the officiant? really?
I liked Daft Punk but is kinda silly to be a robot and not be able to talk.

I like Macklemore & Lewis but I'd have liked Eminem to win (happy Kanye didn't win). And did I see Nine Inch Nails at the end of the show with a bunch of other singers?

There's probably more things I liked and didn't like but I can't think of it right  now.

Interesting

I just noticed that Marvin has been writing in his blog  this month. He's a man of few words and never said he started writing the blog again. Most every time I write I ask if he read my blog, you would think he would say...have you read mine?  (I was just thinking maybe he did tell me but I didn't understand or listen? could happen!) :)

It is nice he got back to writing.

I have nothing more to say, because today I did absolutely nothing, so I will just leave you with a cool idea. It works!

Just take an orange, lemon or grapefruit, cut in half,
eat the middle portion, leave the center core-like stem intact.
Pour a little kitchen oil (veg. Oil, olive oil, etc) into orange or whatever citrus you use, just below the top of the stem.
Light stem.
It will burn for hours and smell amazing.

Way to go kid! and a beach day

Congratulations again to my super smart, wonderful grandson! I'm so proud of you, great grades again! YAY!

As I wrote yesterday, I met  my friend in Long Beach and we went to eat at the Fish Camp Restaurant. We had  some clam chowder and fish and chips. It was very good. You can choose what kind of fish you want for the fish and chips, they usually are made with cod, but for an extra charge it can be made with halibut.

It was a rather cloudy but warm day. There was high tide today and after we ate we went to sit by the seaside in Sunset Beach to look at the waves. I even took some movie with my iPhone, to hear the waves roar as they came in to the beach.

Another walk in the park

It was such a nice day, I had to take Lulu for another little walk.
She's funny.
There's a lot of geese and ducks and they all were really loud and coming close to us with their necks sticking out. Lulu acted as if she was deaf and blind. Didn't look at them, didn't bark at them, she basically totally ignored them as if they were invisible.
When there's birds or a squirrel in our backyard she acts like a crazy dog, barking and running after them. I thought she would be like that at the park, but no!

After walking for quite  a qhile, her tongue was sticking out and she was panting (it was another warm day). I had brought a bottle of water and a little dish, so I stopped I poured some water and Lulu didn't even look at it, I splashsome on her soshe knew what it was but she didn't even come close.  So we kept on walking. By the time we got to the car, I again poured some water and offered it to her, she again totally ignored it even though her tongue was a mile long.

When we got home, first thing she did, was run to her water bowl in the living room and proceed to drink to the last drop.

Tomorrow I will be meeting Norbert for lunch at Long Beach, I want to try this new fish place http://www.samsfishcamp.com/ since I am a little tired of Mexican food. I'll let you know how it was.
