Spring

Winter is over, Spring is here, although some of my readers may think it's still wintertime. But in Southern California, it is definitely here. Flowers are blooming, birds are singing, everything looks bright and green. Of course, living in this area we don't notice the change of seasons quite as much, but I am enjoying this Spring, and I am noticing all the new flowers and all the new leaves.
M has fixed an area for me to plant herbs, in the Fall I will try to plant some bulbs, although I never had any luck with bulbs...We also want to plant another citrus tree, maybe a mandarine or a lemon in the backyard(the lemon bush in front needs to be taken out, is not doing so well)
Saturday we went to San Diego, it was a cloudy day but the sun was shining around lunch time. It's always nice to see L & J and we had a nice visit. Of course I had to have some extraordinary dessert, yum!
Now we are looking forward to Spring Break in Utah, I hope the weather is nice, I remember last year on the day we left it was snowing quite heavily.
Here's a picture of one of my roses, I think is totally beautiful!!!!
Happy Spring to you all!

Crape Myrtle

Today M and I went to buy a tree for the front yard. After going to a couple of nurseries, we settled on an Arapaho Crape Myrtle. It has deep red flowers (I am into red ). It blooms in spring and summer and it follows the seasons. We have a Crape Myrtle bush in the backyard by the Jacuzzi, the flowers are pink.

After leaving the tree at home, we went to have lunch at El Torito, and of course I had to have a Margarita.

I took a looooooooooong nap in the afternoon, I think I needed the sleep :)

Happy Birthday Han!

...and that's all folks!

Catching up :)

Just thought I'd update my blog since I have been very remiss at writing.

I will start with Valentine's Day. We rarely celebrate it, it's a Hallmark day, but the children in my class couldn't have been sweeter. They brought me bouquets of flowers, a potted tulip, heart boxes of chocolates, mugs , and of course, a variety of homemade Valentines :)

This month I had 2 Mondays off because of President's Day. It was nice to just be lazy. On the 18th, M and I took my friend Jennifer to Acapulco Restaurant to celebrate her birthday, the next day it was our 44th wedding anniversary, we got nice cards & calls from the girls. I told M to just cook something at home since we had just gone out to dinner the day before, he made catfish, yum!

That same day, was my friend N's birthday, I just called him to wish him a happy day :)

Then on Saturday, we went to Long Beach to get S and family. She has really changed with the weight loss and I really didn't recognize her at first. She has really work hard with her diet and it shows. Wish I had the same motivation, good for her! Shortly after we got home, L came from San Diego. We all went out to lunch, when we got to the restaurant area we all chose different things. S and me had Baja Fresh, M and T got Panda Express, and L and MT had sushi. We all brought the food from the different restaurants, and ate outside and enjoyed our lunch. It was very nice.

Afterwards, the women went to the movies to see "He's just not that into you". It was fun. The men did some work outside the house, and M and T went to the book store, of course. For dinner, of course, In'N'Out!

L decided to spend the night at home, so the 3 of us played Scrabble and they both beat their mom (who used to be the champ lol)

Sunday morning, L left back to San Diego. Then M and I took S and family to the port of Los Angeles to go to their cruise ship. Huge ship!

Then M and I went back home, where I sat down to watch the Oscars. Way to go Penelope, finally a Spanish woman got an Oscar. I had seen the Oscar winning move "Slumdog Millionaire" so I was pleased it won.

Now is back to work, and testing, and parent teacher conferences...fun! on Sunday we will go to get Sand and family back from their cruise. I just got an email from her, it seems they are having a great time.

I hope all of you that read this blog are having a great time as well :)

The Blahs

I haven't written much lately, nothing much to say, I think I have a case of the blahs.
Mainly I have been nursing a cold for about a week, and the past 3 days I have been homebound sleeping a lot and watching the rain fall. It has been raining a lot after some really beautiful weather days.
I have been reading and watching movies too, Slumdog Millionnaire was pretty different from other movies, I quite enjoyed it, although it made me feel thankful I don't live in Mumbai.
This week is going to be crazy in kidnergarten, we are celebrating 100 days of school and also, of course, Valentine's Day (they both happen to fall on the same day).
I also checked the Melodifestival from Sweden. I think this festival is as good or better than the Eurovision Festival. I hope H.E.A.T gets chosen to participate. I used to watch Eurovision when I lived in Spain and now I sort fo follow it online. Last year Russia won, so the festival will be held in Moscow I think. Spain had a horrible entry lol , it's like they were mocking the whole thing, I hope this year's entry is a little better.
I wish all of you a very happy week. I am lookign forward to next week when I will get to see Sandy and family on their way to a Mexican cruise, and hopefully Lizzie too :)

Family Ties

Monday M and I drove down to San Diego to L and Han's house to meet Han's family. It was a very nice day, with friendly people and great food!

L and Han made delicious appetizers (Texas caviar yum) and a friend of theirs made a totally awesome real Louisiana gumbo.

We met Han's father and grandfather and other assorted relatives and friends. There were all very gregarious and friendly and we had a good time.

L was a good hostess and it was nice to see how well liked she is by Han's family :)

It was fun!

This and That

I noticed I have not been writing too much since I got my new car. Nothing much has been going on, the weather is beautiful, the car is great, the roses are blooming, it's all good :)

Today H.E.A.T was playing in Barcelona, and my nieces Sonia and Aida were going with their respective bf''s. I can't wait to hear from them and what they thought of the concert and of their new cousin, I am also curious to know what he thought of them.

Tomorrow M and I are driving down to San Diego to go to L and Han's party. It will be interesting to meet some of Han's relatives, and to eat some good gumbo. We won't be able to stay very long because the next day I not only have to work but I am having my formal evaluation, fun!

Tuesday is also Inauguration Day. I told my principal that I would like my class to witness this historic moment. Let's see what she says.

Happy New Year, I did it! :)

So finally I caved in and got myself a red Mustang 2009!

It is a fine car, good looking and fast, I wanted it red, so I had to look around for one that color, the color is dark candy apple red, it matches the Dakota pretty well. I wanted a GT V8 at first, but the V6 has more power than my TBird, and I don't think I need any more power as it is! it also has better mileage. It comes with a pony pack, and enhanced audio system.

Happy New Year!!!!
