Distinguished School

A California Distinguished School is an award given by the California State Board of Education to public schools within the state that best represent exemplary and quality educational programs.

We are a very small school district (about 5,000 students K-8), but we have the distinction of having 3 schools achieve Distinguished School awards. My school, Jersey Elementary also got California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll School for 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Today we had people from the State and the District observing and evaluating us to validate the title of Distinguished School. We all were in our very best behavior, and the people were super impressed with all the educational programs going on in the school. At the end of the meeting we were told we were heads above any other district of the same size and culture as ours. They were very impressed and wanted to take some of our ideas to implement in other school districts around California.
I didn't quite realized we were that good lol, but according to test results and evaluation we are on the top layer of California schools! Quite impressive :)

So congratulations to Jersey School on this award!
