A Road Trip to Arizona (Day 1)

I have wanted to go to Sedona AZ for a long time. This May, Lizzie and I planned on taking a road trip from La Mirada to Sedona, leaving on Thursday, May 9.

We were preparing for the tip and a couple of days before leaving, I slipped in the kitchen and fell, badly bruising my right arm and shoulder. I was lucky I didn't break anything, but it was a shock (update: my bruises and scratches are all gone, but my right knee is still a little sore).

We left around 10:00AM on Thursday as planned. Lulu came along too. Lizzie is a very good driver and we had an uneventful trip to Prescott AZ, we made it in a little over 6 hours. Trivia: we left Lulu's water bowl in one of our rest stops. We crossed the very windy roads of the Prescott National Forest and arrived at the Hotel in Prescott. After a little rest, we drove to Prescott Valley to my nephew Rick's house, to say hello to him and Lee,the kids, Petey, and the chickens.

After visitng for a whiule, we went to downtown Presscott because I wanted to go to Whiskey Row, and also to get something to eat.

After walking around and eating a huge pulled pork sandwich, we went back to the hotel for a well deserved sleep. Lulu was happy to see us.

January 2024 Recap

And just like that, is a New Year, and January has just gone by...

It's been 6 years since Marvin died, and he's missed, but life goes on.

I went to Marshall's to do a shopping spree for myself, and I came back with nothing. I was not in a shopping mood. January 6th is Epiphany, I was happily surprised I got a nice new book bag from Lizzie!

I had a talk with Sonia, she looks and feels terrible. I hope she goes to a doctor and sees a therapist as well.

We woke up on the 11th with no Heat again, called the company, and Diego, the owner, came to fix it.

I got my Fitbit from Kaiser. On the 16th we went to Fullerton for the Friends of Coyote Hills Award, which was very nice. There were lots of police and Firemen getting awards for different things.

I went to Dr Chopra with Lizzie, and my feet are doing well. Afterwards, we went to Porto's Yum. Lizzie left that night for Lebec on her way to Dixon.
The next day I went to Dr. Noda for a check-up, and I got some blood tests done. My stomach is still bothering me, I will text him if it gets worse.  I went to the library on the way home to meet Norbert. We went to Sol Inka, it was nice.
It was raining all weekend. Lizzie got back from Dixon Sunday night. With lots of quilts and glass, and jewelry. It was an emotional few days for her and Sandy.
One of many, beautiful, Opal quilts

I did some cooking during the month, milanesas, soups, Shashuska, Blue Apron. On Monday the 29th, we went to Calico Restaurant in HB, I'd been looking forward to eating there and I was disappointed.

The same day we went for a hike to the Bolsa Chica Wetlands, it was a clear day to watch the sunset, and to see the birds and the bunnies. It was a nice time.

December Recap

I am behind in my posts. December just seemed to fly by!

The month of December started with the girls flying to Dixon, getting lots of things done regarding moving their aunt Mary to a Memory Care Facility facility in Arizona.  Everything was accomplished the way it was planned. After Lizzie came back, she drove to San Diego for W&F.

On the 8th,  Lizzie and I went to get a Covid booster. I was sick after my booster and slept a lot, and my tummy hurt.

Lulu got had bath on the 7th, and the next day, Saturday the 8th, I got a haircut, shorter this time. On Sunday the 10th, my friend N, came by wearing gifts. The next day we decorated the house for the holidays :)  We also called several companies to give estimates for a new HVAC.

December 15th we went to LB Airport to pick up Sandy. She came to spend a few days with us to celebrate my 8th birthday. I had a very nice time with my girls, I made canelones, and had cheesecake, and we ate and drank and talked and enjoyed the time together.

On Tuesday the 19th Lizzie went back to San Diego for more W&F.

On the 21st we got our new HVAC installed (11000) finally Heat!

Christmas Eve, we had traditional fettuccini, cheese board, turrones and Cava. On Christmas Day, we enjoyed our gifts. We made a pecan pie, and I made the traditional Catalan Christmas dish, escudella, and pollo a la catalana. It was a very nice day!

On the 29th, we went to the Panda Inn and had a lovely meal -and a strong MaiTai.

And we celebrated New Year's Eve quietly and nicely at home

Let's all wish for HEALTH, LOVE, PEACE and MONEY for 2024
