Lulu

First haircut. February 2012

Lulu was born October 18, 2011

I bought her in January 2012, she was for sale in a pet store in the Home Depot shopping center.
She shared a room with her brother, a smaller white maltipoo.

I had been looking around for a puppy, to keep me company since Marvin had been in and out of hospitals, I also thought he'd enjoy her when he came home.
I looked at her and I wasn't sure if she was what I wanted exactly, so I didn't get her,
A while later I went with Lizzie to take another look at her, and after talking it over I decided to get her.
Spiky hair

She was a very feisty puppy, she scratched me daily and was a biter, she tore at furniture and books and didn't like to go outside to do her business.
She was NOT a cuddler and she had a temperament. I was stressed because of Marvin's sickness and didn't pay much attention to the puppy or played with her.
I lost my temper with her quite a few times and she tried to bite me. It got to the point where I would carry a stick with me if she came too close.
I even thought about taking her back to the store where I bought her. I took her to PetCo to take an obedience class, but she didn't get a certificate. I failed her by not training her at home.

But when Marvin came home, they became buddies. She would sit on his chair and look out the window. She would follow him and sleep in his room.

Best friends

And now she's 12 years old, she has mellowed out and she likes to cuddle with Lizzie, and me, for a few seconds. She likes to have her tummy skritched . She has her own agenda, and hides behind the couch when she sees a fly. Her favorite thing in the world is food, especially her Sunday bone, she  loves cookies and treats. She loves people, but not other animals. She gets super excited when one of us comes home after being away.

I'm so happy she's part of the family
WE LOVE YOU LULU

September Recap

September was cooler than August. It was pleasant to start the Fall weather, although we'll probably have some hot days ahead.

We did some gardening and it was pleasant, the garden looks good, and I have been growing new succulents and doing some transplanting. There are still some tomatoes on the vine.

The sad part of the month was the passing of my sister-in-law Bettie. She had been in the hospital and rehab and didn't get any better. Rest in peace, Bettie.

Another sad part, for me, was the breaking up of my long friendship with my friend Norbert. His personality changed since his fall a few years ago (TBI). A long story.

L and I have gone out to eat a few times, El Torito Grill, Nonna Mercato, a Greek place, Porto's
and we did the Blue Apron and some home cooking. We also went to our last Summer walk at the Arboretum on the 22nd.

On the 20th, we went to Pasadena, to see Jeff Berkley at the Lost Parrot Cafe, it was very nice.

On the 27th, L's friend Lindsay came over and they went to Hollywood where she had a gig, then spent the night here.
