I've spend most of the day in bed. Didn't have a lot to eat, but I drank a lot. My throat is sore, my body aches, my nose has been runny all day. Yeech.
I was going out to dinner with Jennifer tomorrow, but I am sure I'll have to cancel.
I hope I feel a lot better tomorrow :)

A nice day
Today is our 51st Anniversary.
In the morning I went to the hair salon for a hair cut and color. The salon is really very nice and so is the owner Frank, I always ask for him to do my hair, he's nice looking too.
Check the website:

He had brought his little Yorkie Lucy and she was happy saying hello to all the people at the salon. She slept on my lap while I was having my hair colored.
One thing I like about this place, is they always offer you something to drink. My choice is white wine. Nice.
In the evening, we went out to dinner at the Black Angus. We invited Norbert to come with us, it was his 60th birthday so we had a double celebration.
Notice the size of Norbert's 1 1/2 lbs.prime rib
Marvin's was 3/4 lb
He brought us a big Bromeliad as a gift. Very nice.
Lizzie came over to spend the weekend with us. She got me my favorite chocolate cake! Sandy called us and we all chatted with her, she had some news to share.
It was a very nice day :)

Friends
I haven't been writing much because I didn't have much to say. Life goes on, some days better than others, but in general pretty good. We've had very hot weather, but today it has been raining, a nice change :)
I was thinking about my friends so I thought I'd write a little about it. Some of my friends I've known for a long time.
When I was a teenager I had 2 best friends, Lolin and Titina. We all preferred foreign boys to Spanish guys. Titina liked both American and European men, so did I, Lolin only liked American. Lolin lived in my neighborhood and we went to elementary school together, she was 4 years older than me. Titina I met in secondary school, we both went to school in Paseo de Gracia close to Casa Batllo. She's 3 years older than me.
Lolin married 3 times, all American men. She was married to her third one when she died last year. Tom was a marine, a really good guy. Lolin was a hard person to live with, we had some good times together and we remained friends till the end. She never had any children.
Titina is still alive, as far as I know. She married a guy from Oklahoma and went to live to Houston. They had two boys. Then she divorced him and married her neighbor,it didn't last too long and after a while she remarried her first husband, They are pretty well off, having houses in Houston, NYC and Costa Brava. We have not been in touch for quite a few years, her choice.
When I came to the US, my best friend was Sue. Her husband was Marvin's best friend. They didn't have any children, they divorced after we moved to Idaho and we lost contact.
In Idaho my best friend was Aracely, she was from Spain but lived in Argentina then moved to Idaho. When we moved to California she moved too and for a while lived with us. We lost touch, but then we met again in Facebook.
In college my best friend was Myrta. Myrta and I made quite a twosome, I think they still remember us in ISU! After graduation the 2 of us became teachers. Myrta moved to Texas and we lost touch.
Then about 2 weeks ago I found her thru Facebook and is like we had not been apart for years.
When we moved to California, my best friends were teachers at school. Jessica and Jennifer. We are still friends but of course not as close as we were when we taught together. Jennifer's birthday is tomorrow.
And last but not least, my very best friend, through thick and thin, with some ups and downs, is Norbert. But you all know about him. He will have his 60th birthday on Friday. When we met, he was 25...do the math :)
Maybe during the month when we write every day, I will dedicate a day to each of my friends. Some stories are pretty interesting.

What happened to Spring?
This has been a cooler than usual Winter. We had rain, high winds, and cold (I wore a hoodie and a scarf almost daily for a while!). I enjoyed the cool weather, it got almost to the freezing point one night 39F! Of course we had the heater on all the time. I even caught a big cold that had me coughing and sneezing a big part of January.
And then comes February. Temperature is rising, flowers are blooming. Is not winter anymore even though the San Gabriel mountains and Big Bear are snow covered. The skies are clear and deep blue.
The 1st of February was the perfect day: clear blue skies, sea breeze, 72F. Perfect.
But now...suddendly..It's Summer!
Today is 81F and they expect higher temperatures the next few days. Beach weather, shorts. A/C full blast!
What will be next? more Winter? Spring? (my favorite season) or we jump full force into Summer in February?
I'll keep you posted.
