Trying again and again to get it resolved, let's see how this works today :)

Testing 2

I am trying and trying to fix this blog and nothing works. I changed the layout and the font, and nothing. Most annoying is the margins. It doesn't go all the way to the end and I have tried many times to adjust it.

Is it fixed?

I hope is working now!

A very sad day

On Thursday I had lunch with N in  Seal Beach, we went to Mimi's and then we walked to the end of the pier. It was a very nice day. He was a little stressed because his sisters don't approve of his fiancee.
he told me that on Friday he was going to wash his roof and clean the patio area to get it ready for the new Jacuzzi he bought.

Saturday his sister Eva called me to ask if I knew where N was. He calls her every night and he didn't call her Friday night, he kept on calling him 6 or 7 times and he didn't answer the phone so she was worried. She said she was going to drive to HB to report him missing. I told her I would drive down to his house to see if he was there and was just not answering the phone.

When I got to his house, the thing that caught my attention was a plate of strawberries left by the kitchen counter. They were moldy. Upstairs I saw the mini iPad that he uses to talk with his fiancee, I was suprised to see it there since he calls her daily. I looked at it and there were a couple of missed calls from her.

Both his neighbors were worried because he always tells them if he leaves, he had been missing for 2 days. I called Eva and she said if she had not heard from him, she would come down  and report him missing. Then i went home.

Shortly after I got home, his neighbor called me that a police had come around to say he was at the hospital victim of an accident. He was in ICU but didn't have any more information other than the Hospital name. I called the hospital and they said they couldn't give me any ionformation because I was not next of kin. The police had called Eva in Las Vegas and she said she would leave right away.

I went to the hospital, and his other neighbors were there, the nurse said  that Friday around 4:30PM he was brought by ambulance with a brain injury. But didn't know who called, or where he was, or what happened.

After a lot of investigation, we found out that somebody had called N to say their refrigerator in one of his apartments was not working right, so he went there with another neighbor and loaded the refrigerator in his pickup to get it fixed. Then the neighbor went home.

Now this is all conjecture and maybe I'll find out more tomorrow. But we think he went to unload the refrigerator and it fell on him and he fell backwards and injured his head. We still don't know who called, or where he was at, or where his pick up is.

They are going to keep him for observation at the ICU, he's unconscious but breathing on his own, his BP is OK but he didn't show any signs of hearing me. Brain injuries are hard to pinpoint and I will advise his siter to get him to a trauma center where he may get better
care. We'll see. It's all very sad
 :(

I am thinking of sending Krista an email and let her know he's been injured, but Eva doesn't want anything to do with her and doesn't want me to call or write her, but I think he would want me too.

I'll go tomorrow and see hos he's doing...and we'll go from there... I hope he will recover.

Vacation time

It seems like is vacation time for some. Jeff is in the UK and Barbara N in Austria, those are working vacations, but vacations nevertheless.

And now Sandy and family are going on vacation Saturday. They are really looking forward to it, and I hope they have a wonderful time. I know she will blog about it and send pictures here and in Facebook.

Lizzie is keeping on her cleansing diet. We all hope it helps to clear up some of the spots, and maybe she can take some time off and enjoy a well deserved minivacation later on.

My vacation consists of having free time, and I will try to go to the beach when I can , but it's crowded in the summer in HB and I prefer to enjoy it in September when is less crowded and less hot :)

Last Sunday was my sister Nuri's 73rd birthday. Sonia sent me a couple of pictures. Here's one with Sonia and Monica.

Tomorrow I'm going to my hair salon Artika, to have my hair colored and cut. Can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I hope it'll be OK.

Love you all

Weekend

We had a nice long weekend with Lizzie. Didn't do anything other than fix stuff for her cleansing diet and rest and relaxation :)

We of course watched the final of the World Cup. Great goal by the Germans with just a few minutes to go.

Nothing much else to say, everything is as it should be :)

Here's a nice travel thought...I like it!

Big Waves!

Yesterday  there were big giant waves in Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, and other coastal areas of Southern California.

Today the waves were pretty high too, so I went down to HB and had lunch with Norbert in Seal Beach, and then we went to the beach for a while. There were quite a lot of people, many children building sandcastles and just playing in the sand, lots were flying kites. It was a bit windy.

I was wearing shorts and I wanted to get my feet wet. I jumped when the waves came to shore, and was amazed at the height of some of them  but when they broke at the shore they were not that big anymore.

Then I turned around about the time a big wave came, and it just left me quite wet , I ran towards the sand and almost stepped and almost fell in some  towers the kids were building. They were not amused :)

lots of seaweed!

I had fun!

2 movies

Lately I watched two Sundance movies that I thought I'd like.
Wrong!

The first one is called "Happy Christmas" it hasn't been released yet, it will be July 25. It stars Anna Kendrick, Melanie Linskey and Lena Dunham (can't stand her) and is written, produced and directed by Joe Swanberg, who also stars in it. Same one that did "Drinking Buddies". It also leaves the actors doing a lot of improvising, most of it very dull. I don't know how Rotten Tomatoes gave it an 89% score.
The only good part for me, was the 2 year old. He reminds me of Matthews my next door neighbor's son. He was the best improviser of all. He is also, in real life, the son of Joe Swanberg.

The next one is called "They Came Together" , it stars Amy Poehler (she reminds me of tia Fernanda especially in the mouth area) and Paul Rudd. It's a parody of all romantic comedies (like Airplane was of disaster movies) but it fails big time. Those 2 have no chemistry at all, and most of the stuff is totally dumbed out. Yes some things might remind you of some movie but not in a funny way. There was maybe one thing that was funny to me.
Rotten Tomatoes give it a 70%.

Tonight I will watch "The Other Woman" with Cameron Diaz and Kate Upton, it has a 23% rating at Rotten Tomatoes. Maybe I will like it better than the higher rated ones ;)

Dinner date ;)

Tonight I had a dinner date. My date picked me up at 6 and we went to a Mexican restaurant in La Mirada called Mexico 1900. We both had Margaritas with our meal. We talked a lot and laughed, and we stayed for about 2 hours, and enjoyed ourselves and decided we'd have another dinner date soon.

Who was my date you ask?  It was my next door neighbor Amy :)  She said she needed a break from her kids and had her husband babysit them.

Sandy has been posting travel quotes and that made me think of my cousin Franc (son of tia Socorro and tio Franco, he has been on a 3 and a half monts trip and is today returning to Munich, where he lives. He's a very interesting man. He, his wife Eva and his young son visited us in Idaho for a couple of days. I remember him doing yoga in the hallway. He's a lecturer in computer sciences and a big yoga practitioner.

He started his trip from Munich to LA to Hawaii, he went to a Zen retreat in Hawaii. After that he went to French Polynesia, Tonga, American Samoa, Fiji, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Australia and Thailand. He went by himself, trying to find his IT. He practiced yoga, taught some classes, and mingled with the natives. He's posted tons of pictures in Facebook . Most of the time he went "native" but a few times he went to nice resorts.  Last December he went to Singapur, Jakarta, Borneo and Bali.

The guide was wearing a Barcelona FC Tshirt :)
